Our towns and villages are expanding rapidly thanks to the house- building boom yet local families are finding it increasingly challenging to locate affordable homes - and pressure from holiday home ownership has undoubtedly added to the problem.
The doubling of council tax on holiday homes may help in the long term. But in the short term we need to provide more affordable homes so that young families can remain living in the localities where they grew up.
